The awesome guys over @StatsPost on IG are known for making some great comparative graphics. One that caught my eye was the yards receiving for Tyler Boyd lined up in the slot. His 776 yards in 2019 ranked him third highest in the NFL behind Cooper Kupp and Chris Goodwin. The whole graphic/breakdown:
Let’s also remember a few things. In 2019 Tyler Boyd was asked to be our #1 WR since AJ Green was hurt all season. He often commanded double coverage and was able to amass 270 additional yards and play all 16 games. This bodes well for the 2020 Bengals who will have a healthy AJ Green back and a sniper for a QB. Nothing takes pressure off of a QB more than a great running game and a competent slot receiver for quick releases.
Oh yeah let’s also mention the addition of Tee Higgins. Boyd can now commit to being the best slot receiver in the NFL. Who are you doubling? Green? Boyd? Higgins? What if we put Tate and Ross in there as well in a 5 receiver set? Who else is giddy thinking about what Burrow can do with these guys?
