Back Off Randy Bullock

Sure “Fat” Randy (Bullock) missed the game tying field goal to send the Bengals into overtime. Who is to say that we were going to win the game? Sure Burrow was steaming ahead and momentum was strong but anything can happen and the fall of the coin dictates the winner more so than anything.

Why am I defending Bullock? Because a lot of you are going after a guy that has been nothing but solid for the Bengals. Lest you forget that he hit a 50 yard field goal in the very game that he had the phantom injury occur in. Also the guy nutted up and faced the media like a real man where many kickers would fade away and let coaches and QBs answer for his mistake.

Bullock has brought stability to the kicking position for Cincinnati. You are forgetting his stats found here. 87.1% is great and what is more impressive is his kicks over 4 yards. He is not Justin Tucker, but very few are….ever. Bullock is a top 10-15 kicker in this league. This is a position that gets chewed up and spit out frequently (look at Cleveland) and is based on emotion and mental head space. Bullock is 17th on the active kicker leader board for field goal %.

We signed Austin Seibert who was taken in the 2019 draft and unproven. He 2019 average was below that of Bullock’s at 86.2%. He is not a proven veteran who can weather peaks and valleys of his game. Sure Bullock had a display of ridiculous on Sunday but I would rather keep faith in a guy that is a proven kicker. Look around also, who is better that is available?

Forgive and forget and “Fat” Randy will reward us. Have some faith in the guy and get off his back. Blasting him on social media is not going to clear his head and booing him will do no better. He needs support and confidence. He did not lose the game, he just didn’t tie it. On to Cleveland! Who Dey!
