This question was posed on Bengals.com and our good friends Lap, Hoard, Hobson and LaPlaca offered their takes. Lap really is excited to see the offensive line and I do not blame him. It scares me and it should scare you but if they can put together an average season Burrow has a serious chance at Rookie of the Year and a Wild Card birth.
Dan Hoard went the way of wide receiver and while I too can’t wait to see AJ healthy and Tee Higgins donning 85 it is the position that worries me the least. We are locked and loaded at WR and while they will be fun we kind of already know what we have. LaPlaca is interested in the corners and this is the total revamp of the offseason. We did not get a total shutdown and big name corner in the offseason but we did get quality starters to replace Kirkpatrick and Dennard. Vonn Bell is the biggest upgrade at safety and chemistry will be important.
Geoff Hobson hit the nail on the head for me. I can’t wait to see what happens with this position group. There is a lot of young raw talent that was picked up in the draft. We can already pencil Pratt and Bynes in as the day 1 starters and we all assume that Logan Wilson is going to be that third guy. Anything can happen though and a rotation of Davis-Gaither and Jordan Evans (maybe) will help with situational defenses. We are going to learn a lot in minicamp and in the preseason. Inevitably someone is going to get dinged up so that is going to let the young guys play.
