Joe Burrow wasted no time in making his feelings public on Twitter today regarding the killing of George Floyd. As the nation struggles makes sense of this event it is refreshing to see a young and influential person like Joe Burrow step up and not be afraid to voice his opinion. This is competent and thoughtful content from a young white male with a platform.
Joe is not tweeting to kneel during the national anthem in protest. Joe is not tweeting f*ck the police with an Ice Cube voice. Joe is saying that our friends, our teammates, and our countrymen are being affected by what is happening in our society right now. He wants to step up and make everyone aware. This reminds me of other players who rush to the aid of the black community with a white voice…..Tom Brady comes to mind.
No matter what happens in the next few days, weeks, years, decades on racial issues in America, it is clear where Joe Burrow stands. He stands united with Americans, not divided by skin color. Nicely done Mr. Burrow.
