Zak Attack Coach of the Year?

I am not a huge gambler but I know that most of you degenerates are (I say that out of respect of course). Yesterday sportsbetting.ag released their coach of the year odds and while I would not normally care any nugget of Bengals information is a good nugget during the dog days. I would list them all but that is boring so I will just highlight a few.

Bill Belichick / Bruce Arians – These two are tied with 12/1 odds which is not entirely surprising. Arians must take the Bucs to the Super Bowl to warrant that. I mean you have the GOAT, its assumed. Belichick needs to take Stidham to the playoffs and win a game. Losing TB12 to Arians is the difference maker and it would solidify just how genius he is.

Mike McCarthy – I think he needs to take the Cowboys to the Super Bowl at 14/1. I even had to look up to make sure my COVID brain didn’t lie to me and tell me he was still in Green Bay. The Cowboy are either going to be awesome this year or underperform completely because of the Dak drama. Maybe McCarthy finds a way for Dalton to get his first playoff win. That would warrant a coach of the year award.

John Harbaugh – John is 25/1 which surprises me since a lot of people think the Ravens are going to win a Super Bowl. How about you win a playoff game Lamar and then worry about getting some finger candy. Harbaugh is a great coach and I think he is rewarded if he gets them to the dance but probably has to win it all. That is the expectation so hopefully the Madden Curse strikes.

Mike Zimmer – Zim likely is not taking this team deep into the playoffs but I think he has to in order to get the recognition or at least win 11-12 games. 28/1 are not great odds. I highlight Zim because he is my favorite assistant coach of all time (except when Hue was at Oakland and gave us a kings ransom for Palmer).

Zak Taylor – Our fearless leader is 33/1 and that is probably very fair. He would need to get a Wild Card and win a playoff game. A turnaround from a 2-14 season would be a miracle with those results but I can’t imagine that happening unless Joe Burrow channels his inner Joe Montana + Tom Brady x Peyton Manning. It could happen though and that is why he is not last. Doug Marrone is because everyone thinks the Jags are going to stink. BetMGM had his odds at +2500 back on May 11th whatever that means.
