There was some shuffling around in the AFC this offseason and I wanted to take a look at where Joe Mixon stacked up against everyone in the conference. Things seem to be heating up in negotiations with Mixon and the Bengals and certainly where he stands as “the best player” matters when it comes to compensation. I ranked my thoughts on who is best:
1) Derrick Henry (Titans)
2) Joe Mixon (Bengals)
3) Nick Chubb (Browns)
4) Melvin Gordon (Broncos)
5) Mark Ingram II (Ravens)
6) Devin Singletary (Bills)
7) Josh Jacobs (Raiders)
8) Leonard Fournette (Jaguars)
9) Sony Michel (Patriots)
10) Marlon Mack (Colts)
11) James Conner (Steelers)
12) Le’Veon Bell (Jets)
13) Jordan Howard (Dolphins)
14) David Johnson (Texans)
15) Austin Ekeler (Chargers)
16) Clyde Edwards-Helaire (Chiefs)
I know we all wanted to see Mixon as the best back but if you know football Derrick Henry is a monster in the league right now. I just couldn’t justify it. Nick Chubb rushed for 1,494 yards and 8 touchdowns and 278 yards receiving. You should say, well those were better stats than Joe Mixon in 2019. You are right, but Mixon’s OL was trash until the end of the season. Chubb is a really good player but if I had to choose between the two in building an AFC franchise I am going with Mixon. These guys are probably 2a and 2b to be honest and my fanhood also edged Chubb out.
